We examined the impact on urethral stricture complexity at urethroplasty of previous transurethral treatments such as dilation, urethrotomy, and stenting which are used most commonly when treating male urethral stricture.
Impact of Clinical Guidelines on Voiding Cystourethrogram Utilization and Vesicoureteral Reflux Incidence
To prevent overdiagnosis and overtreatment of vesicoureteral reflux, the 2007 British National Institution of Clinical Excellence (NICE) and 2011 American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) guidelines both recommended against routine voiding cystourethrogram in children presenting with first febrile urinary tract infections. The impact of these guidelines on clinical practice is unknown.
Three-Dimensional Computerized Model Based on the Sonourethrogram: A Novel Technique for Evaluating the Anterior Urethral Stricture
The sonourethrogram is a useful alternative to the traditional retrograde urethrogram (RUG) for evaluating anterior urethral stricture. With the development of three-dimensional (3-D) reconstructive technique, 3-D urethral image can provide more accurate and useful information to allow the surgeon make the best surgical decision. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the accuracy and efficacy of a 3-D reconstructed digital model of the urethra based on the sonourethrogram for assessing anterior urethral disease.
Use of health care depends on many factors, some of which are patient related as multiple studies have shown the impact of patient socioeconomic and racial group status. However, physician behavior also has a primary influence. Previous studies have been published indicating sometimes surprising and even inexplicable variation among physicians with regard to how often certain tests are ordered or operations performed. A better understanding the reasons behind these variabilities can help develop more constant and evidence driven patient care.
Techniques Used to Create Continent Catheterizable Channels: a Comparison of Long-Term Results in Children
To compare long-term results of three different techniques used to create continent catheterizable channels (CCCs) in children in a single institution.
Clinical and Patient-Reported Outcomes of One-Sided Anterior Urethroplasty for Long-Segment or Panurethral Strictures
To evaluate clinical and patient-reported urinary and sexual outcomes after a long-segment stricture repair using the one-sided urethral dissection, penile invagination and dorsal BMG onlay technique described by Kulkarni.
ObjectivesTo compare postoperative infectious outcomes of bladder biopsies performed in the office without antibiotic prophylaxis versus those done with preoperative antibiotic prophylaxis in the operating room.MethodsOur IRB-approved database was retrospectively reviewed for patients who underwent bladder biopsy in the office or in the operating room (OR) between 7/2014 and 8/2015. All patients with bladder biopsies performed in the OR and none in the office received preoperative antibiotic prophylaxis.
To demonstrate a successful one-session approach to a complete calcified ureteral stent, preserving the affected kidney without complications.
